Erzsebet Hid (Elisabeth Bridge)

In the background of this picture is  Elisabeth bridge. Which was built in 1964 on the site of the old Elisabeth bridge that was originally built in 1903 and named after Elisabeth of Bavaria an Austrian Hungarian queen.  The site of the bridge is the narrowest point of the Danube.

Vaci Utca

Vaci Utca is one of the main streets in Budapest. (Utca in Hungarian means street) It is a pedestrian only street,  filled with shops and restaurants. You can find there all kinds of shops from chains  stores like H&M, to local shops selling antiques, to American fast food.  It is great area to just walk around and enjoy some shopping,  or people watching.

The Budapest Flood of 1838

This relief depicts a scene that accord during the flood of 1838. This was the worst flood in history Budapest. The relief which is located at the Pest Franciscan Church, was made to show how high the water got. In the relief you can see a man in the boat rescuing people. The man was Miklos Wesselenyi a statesman and leader of the upper house of congress. He became when of the hero's of the flood. Throughout Budapest there are reliefs showing how the water got and events that happened during the flood. It is a very unique way to remember a disaster through art.
